Last Friday, we attended the ECA World Fitness Convention, which is the mecca of all things related to exercise and wellness. As workout enthusiasts, we entered anticipating that we would be familiar with all of the studios at the conference. We could not have been more wrong. After we scanned the schedule, we knew of about four studios—total. So we set out to see what was happening in health and which experts had come to inform us.

We started in the trade show room, which featured everything from jump ropes to Jillian Michaels DVDs. One booth in particular caught our eye. A beaming woman in head-to-toe pink spandex was standing behind a color-coordinated booth advertising “Piloxing". She introduced herself as Allison and delved into the concept behind the exercise, a high cardio system that combines pilates, boxing and dance. She didn’t stop there, continuing to tell us that Piloxing had saved her small business in New Jersey. Apparently, she was struggling to keep her fitness studio alive and by adding four sessions of Piloxing classes to her schedule, she was able to not only salvage her business, but triple her attendance and profits. She never bat an eyelash when discussing her woes though, as she was more eager to talk about what a joy it was to get people excited about exercise and help them along their own fitness journey. The rest of the people working at the convention, from equipment sales to spin instructors, exuded Allison’s positivity and zeal for wellness.

We ended up leaving with so much more than we bargained for. Not only did we get to discover a host of international studios and products, but we got meet countless people passionate about turning others into the best versions of themselves through fitness.

We want to know—what gyms and studios do you love? What topics do you want to hear more about? Tell us in the comments!
