As a born and raised new yorker I can’t believe I haven’t shared an in depth NYC guide with you guys yet! I know I show all of my favs on the gram sometimes but there are some hidden gems that I’ve been gatekeeping. But no gatekeeping anymore! Read on for my NYC picks, I frequent most of these places on a weekly basis so you may just catch me if you decide to check them out.WHERE TO STAY: Bowery Hotel ($$$) Our home away from home while our apartment in the city was being renovated. The hotel is in a great location, with walking distance to Soho and close to multiple subway stations. The decor is very unique with an antique flair. Every room has floor to ceiling windows with insane views of the city. We love the lobby bar and always end our nights here since it’s great for lounging with friends and socializing. Also, the occasional run in with Evan Mock doesn’t hurt too! Equinox Hotel Hudson Yards ($$) A luxury hotel in Hudson Yards. This hotel is the ultimate spot if you’re looking for a chic wellness hub. The rooms are gorgeous with amazing views and the hotel has all the fitness and wellness amenities you could want. The fam and I had a staycation here and it was the perfect weekend. Highline Hotel ($$) A chic hotel option that won’t break the bank if you want to stay on the westside of NYC. It’s super close to the highline and walking distance to the Meatpacking District. Modernhaus ($$) In the heart of Soho this chic modern hotel is known for its rooftop patio The Jimmy. All the rooms have great views of the city and if you’re lucky you might get one of the rooms with a soaking tub. My favorite thing is when a hotel has a soaking tub so I can pop in a CBD bath bomb and relax at the end of the day. Mint House ($) Also our home away from home for the first year of our apartment renovations. Mint House is located in the Financial District and is a great value for the rooms. All the rooms are modern, spacious and clean. The hotel is close to multiple subway stations making it easy to get around the city. At the bottom of Mint House is one of my favorite restaurants in the city - Crown Shy. @theboweryWHERE TO EAT AND DRINK:I could write an insanely long list of all my favorite restaurants, bars and cafes in New York but for your sake I will narrow it down to my top top favorites. Restaurants: Estela: A Michelin star restaurant in Noho by chef Ignacio Mattos. Estela is an intimate dining experience with a great ambience and even better food. My favorites are: Scallop with date and uni, Fluke and uni, the endive, snapper, ricotta dumplings and pork with truffles. Shuko: A special occasion omakase, but one of the best in the city. Corner Bar: A new American restaurant in the Nine Orchard Hotel. It’s run by Ignacio Mattos, the same chef as Estela and Altro Paradiso. The food is incredible and so is the atmosphere. Must have the caesar salad, burger, fries and side of creamed spinach. Shoo Shoo: Trendy Mediterranean spot in Nolita. Ideal spot for group dinners just make sure you book a reservation in advance. Thai Diner: Some of the best Thai food in NYC. Located in Nolita this spot is worth the 45 minute wait. It’s also in my lunch rotation. I love to order the Laab salad with mushrooms and the stuffed cabbage Tom Khaa. Atla: A Noho contemporary Mexican restaurant with a cute outdoor patio and great margaritas. Atla is my go-to spot for a work lunch meeting or after work cocktail. You have to try their mezcal margarita, chicken soup (my favorite soup in the city) and Pork Al Pastor Gringa. Kikis: Fun fact, this is where Brendan took me after he proposed. It’s one of our special spots in the city. A no frills greek restaurant in Chinatown with incredible food and casual vibes. They don’t take reservations so it can be a bit of a wait but it’s worth it. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu but I always order the octopus and fava beans no matter what. Dimes: Located in Dimes Square, Chinatown, the Dimes is a go-to brunch and dinner spot. It’s affordable and has something on the menu for everyone. My favorites are: Dimes caesar, black rice, steamed mussels, Pozole, salmon and chicken paillard. Russ & Daughters: Cue the best smoked salmon ever. Enough said. @atlanycBars: The Nines: Let’s just say I have a residency at The Nines at this point. A chic, dimly lit piano bar with velvet seats, trendy piano music and overall great vibes. Come here for a post dinner cocktail and try their martini. Also, a cute date spot! Crown Shy: Would you believe me if I told you that when we lived at Mint House Brendan and I came to Crown Shy almost every single night? It’s our favorite restaurant to sit at the bar, order one of their amazing cocktails and a few plates to share. @thenines_nycCafes: Cafe Lyria: This hidden cafe on Crosby street makes the best iced latte in the city. Get The Lyria and tell them HB sent you! Bodegas: BonBeri Mart: A classic grab and go plant based lunch spot with locations in West Village and Soho. My favorites on the menu are the Italian Chopped and Chickpea Tuna. However, the menu changes everyday so make sure to check on their IG or call in. The Goods Mart: Neighborhood convenience with good for you snacks from all my favorite brands (even some of my portfolio companies!). All their goodies are “feel good” snacks ranging from chips, cookies, crackers, condiments etc. They truly have such a well curated selection of snacks. Dimes Market:After you dine at Dimes, be sure to check out their supermarket to take home some delicious snacks and pre-made dips, spreads and salads. I’ve been going to Dimes Market for years now and I always make sure to stock up on their guacamole, pickles, spreads… basically everything they sell. @dimesmarketWHAT TO SEE/DO:Pro Tip: Always check out Time Out Magazine for the latest scoop on what’s going on in the city re culture, food, drink, events. Attend a Broadway Show — A classic must do while in the city. You can often find cheap tickets on the day of whichever show you want to see! Walk the Highline — A family friendly afternoon activity. Spanning from the Meatpacking District up to Hudson Yards the highline is an elevated park that gives you a moment of peace within the bustling city. Walk Central Park — You can’t leave the city without visiting the park! I recommend stopping by Zabars before the park to grab some meat, cheese, smoked salmon, bagels etc. and have a nice picnic in Sheeps Meadow. Spend an afternoon in Brooklyn — If you have enough time I suggest walking across the Brooklyn bridge or taking the ferry across and exploring Dumbo. There’s a cute park by the water and stunning views of the city. Plus if you're a Soho House member the Dumbo House is one of the best houses in the city. BEST SPAS: Clean Market — The best wellness spot in the city. I go here on a weekly basis when I’m in the city for an infrared sauna session and IV drip. They also have cryotherapy and a wellness shop with ALL my favorite brands. They have three locations in the city: Fidi, Noho and Midtown East. My favorite location is the Fidi one. HBFIT SUBSCRIBER BONUS: I believe that my infrared + IV drip combo is the ultimate wellness reset for when you need to get your body back on track; which is why I created a bundle for you guys to try it. Her expertise in all things skin and amazing facials is what keeps me going back! Her facials are definitely a luxury appointment fyi! WTHN — Acupuncture is such a great healing power for our bodies. Whether it’s stress, anxiety, fertility, sore muscles, insomnia etc. Acupuncture can help heal you. When I was trying to get pregnant I did so many acupuncture sessions and really believe that it helped me on my fertility journey. WTHN is an affordable studio in NYC that offers traditional acupuncture as well as cupping and ear seeding. When I go I get a regular acupuncture session with ear seeding as an addition. HBFIT SUBSCRIBER BONUS: Visit Face Gym and get 20% off my favorite facial the Signature Sculpt with code HBSCULPT20 @cleanmarketWHERE TO WORKOUT: Good Day Pilates —This soho pilates studio is a regular go-to of mine. The studio is gorgeous, airy and sun drenched with only 8 reformers so the classes are small (which I prefer because it feels like a private!). The classes are suitable for all pilates experience levels and you’ll notice that the instructors pay close attention to your form and will guide you through the class. Personally, I love the Good Day athlete class since it’s strength based. HBFIT SUBSCRIBER BONUS: Pilates classes aren’t cheap but I do believe that they are such an effective low impact workout and I want you all to get the chance to try it out so I have a code for you to use on your first class. Use code HBxGD for 20% off all group classes. The code will be able to be used once per person. Once you try it you’ll be hooked! S10 — If you’re looking for a serious sweat session stop into S10 for a private training session. Founded by my friend Stephen Cheuk the s10 system focuses on getting your body to a sub 10% body fat composition. If you’re not looking to train, they have a beautiful spa with a steam room, sauna and a floatation. Forma Pilates — This referral based pilates class is no joke, seriously you will feel the class days later. If you can snag a referral from someone you know I highly recommend checking it out, it’s one of the best reformer pilates classes I’ve tried. The Ness — A unique workout class rooted in dance moves on a trampoline and off. It can take a few classes to get the hang of the movements on the trampoline but the class is so fun and makes you forget you’re even working out. @goodday.pilates
